Island teams dominate 13U Provincials

It was an all-Vancouver Island final as B.C. Baseball Association’s 13U A West Provincial Championship wrapped up on Sunday at Palmer/Garden City Park.

Victoria captured the 10-team event by outlasting Ladysmith 8-7 in the championship game. Playoff Sunday began with Victoria handing Campbell River its first loss of the tournament, 9-5, while Ladysmith rolled to a 10-0 triumph over Tsawwassen in the other semi-final match-up.

As for the host Richmond City Chuckers, their bid for a potential podium finish ended with a hard-fought 17-13 loss to Nanaimo on Saturday afternoon. The Chuckers had opened the championships by outlasting Tsawwassen 16-14 on Thursday, before falling to Alberni on Friday.
