After dropping their opening match, 16U Air Attack Black rebounded to win six straight to be crowned Division 3 champions at the Volleyball B.C. Provincial Club Championships in Abbotsford.

It was another magical playoff run for an underdog Air Attack team at B.C. Volleyball’s Club Provincial Championships in Abbotsford.

This time it was the seventh seeded Air Attack Black taking top honours in the 16U Girls Division Three flight.

The Richmond-based club played its best volleyball of the season when it mattered the most, capping a memorable weekend on Sunday afternoon with a hard-fought straight set win (25-22, 28-26) over No. 3 seed Action Volleyball of Burnaby in the gold medal match.

Hours earlier, Air Attack Black rallied to get past the No. 2 seed from Kelowna — T2VB Crew 2 — in three sets (20-25, 27-25, 15-5) in its semi-final match. The day has start with a quarter-final win (25-23, 26-24) over No. 6 Victoria Black.

The tournament began with a 2-1 (25-14, 23-25, 15-8) loss to the Focus Flames. Air Attack then battled their way back into a playoff position by rallying to get past Victoria Red in three sets (19-25, 25-21, 15-13) and KVA Pack Orange, 25-18, 25-17.

The girls are coached by Yersin Yung with assistants Kathi Britten and Madison Reyes.

The Air Attack Black’s roster includes: Rana Ghadymimahani, Kyra Bates, Cadence Tong, Ava Taylor, Juliet Mehrabi, Simran Sidhu, Alison Wai, Jenna Curtis, Toni Power, Jennifer Lum and Emma Hodgins.

The girls wish to thank all the parents and coaches who volunteered their time and Volleyball BC for putting together a well-organized tournament.
