Good-value homes in a burgeoning community is clearly a draw in Richmond, as Hamilton is the most searched-for neighbourhood by the city’s home hunters, a new infographic by property website REW reveals.

The data analysts at REW also found that Richmond property seekers have realistic expectations, with the most popular home search in the city a three-bedroom townhouse between $900,000 and $1 million.

The graphic also looks at Richmond home sales and listings in the first six months of the year, compared with the same period in 2017. It reveals condo sale prices are considerably higher than a year ago (averaging $620,954 across Q1 and Q2), but detached home sale prices remained virtually flat at around $1.88 million.

It looks like sellers haven’t adjusted their price expectations accordingly, with the average single-family listing price still four per cent higher than in 2017, at just under $2.4 million.
