The new Steveston Harbour Authority’s ice plant is complete, following two years of construction.
The harbour authority filmed a time-lapse video of the process (below), from Nov. 23, 2017, when the construction crew began to work on the site, to June 23, 2019, the day the project wrapped up.
The ice plant produces up to 160 tonnes of “industrial flaked ice” within a 24-hour period, using 4 ice makers, for the commercial fishing fleet in Steveston and the filming industry, according to Steveston Harbour’s website.
