The Richmond-Vancouver WALK for ALS was held at Garry Point Park recently with 357 WALKers coming out, raising a total of $63,353.40. The ALS Society of BC congratulates coordinator Ken Gingras and his volunteer committee for a successful event. The funds raised are used in two ways: 60 per cent supports direct services for people living with ALS and their families provided by the ALS Society of BC, while 40 per cent supports ongoing ALS research, through the Canadian ALS Research Program. More than 100 people came out to the Olympic Oval Plaza for the opening ceremony for the Across Canada 2018 cycle from Victoria to St, John’s. The amount of money raised before the ceremony was $85,000, which goes to various charities. Photo submitted

The India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas hosted a vegetarian lunch at the Gurdwara for Richmond city officials and a few other guests recently.
