Take a quick look at any recent political speech – federal, provincial, municipal or international – and the word “jobs” is certain to appear in some form at some moment.

Dear Editor, Re: “Crash barriers are just plain ugly,” Letters, April 20. The barriers that are replacing concrete barriers ARE being used on a racecourse. More drivers are using Richmond streets as their personal speedways.

Dear Editor, I was pleased to see that Liberal MP Joe Peschisolido and the four Liberal MLAs sent their blessings in last week’s paper, wishing our Jewish neigbours a joyous Passover.

Dear Editor, Banning single-use plastic straws and bags is a step in the right direction. But please, Richmond, don’t dawdle. Sometimes going cold turkey leads to the best results.

Not sure what you’re doing this Saturday night, but I’ll be at the River Rock Casino — in case you’re wondering. No, I won’t be pumping coins into the slot machines. I’ll be there to attend the annual Ma Murray Awards hosted by the B.C.

Dear Editor, I recently came across a homeless girl near the entrance of Walmart. When I gave her some food and $10, I could see tears in her eyes. She appeared to be malnourished and perhaps sick.

Dear Editor, Last summer, through the process of collective bargaining, the provincial government agreed to provide funding increases to help address critical wage issues in community and social service agencies.

Dear Editor, Re: “School closures, deja vu?,” Editor’s column, April 4. What about school buses? According to Eve Edmonds’ article, there are not enough children to fill the schools in Richmond at this time. East Richmond has school buses.
