Letters: Time for ‘lean measures’ at Richmond city hall

Open letter to the City of Richmond: You seem to have your heads buried in the sand. You are proposing a two-per-cent reduction in property taxes? Where is your lead in taking pay cuts? A lot of businesses and people are out of work in Richmond.

Mayor and council have lost a large federal tax exemption.

Open letter to the City of Richmond:

You seem to have your heads buried in the sand. You are proposing a two-per-cent reduction in property taxes? Where is your lead in taking pay cuts? A lot of businesses and people are out of work in Richmond.

Don’t threaten the citizens with statements like “if we cut funding there will be less security service provided.”

This is a popular excuse to scare hard-working taxpayers into ante upping your agenda. The time has come for lean measures and cuts. This doesn’t mean laying off frontline workers but getting rid of at least 10 per cent of your inflated top management group. Show the citizens some true fiscal responsibility.
