Letters: City of Richmond needs to re-think bike lane plan

Recently, Richmond council approved a $6 million budget item to construct a 2.7 km multi-use path (bike lane) along the south side of Steveston Highway.

That works out to almost $70 per square foot. I have asked the city for more information on what a $70/sq ft bike path will look like, but so far they have not responded. To put it another way, they could pave the entire pathway with $5 bills and have $2,196,829.10 left over.

I suggest someone needs to rethink this project.
