Letter: Richmond First's anti-marijuana stance is a shame

Dear Editor, The Richmond First party is using “No Retail Marijuana in Richmond” as a selling point for their platform, for the upcoming election. I find it a shame that Richmond residents think this is a good idea.

The WeeMedical Wellness Center on Anderson Road, just across the street from Richmond City Hall, had received multiple violation tickets from bylaw officers for operating without a licence.

Dear Editor,

The Richmond First party is using “No Retail Marijuana in Richmond” as a selling point for their platform, for the upcoming election. I find it a shame that Richmond residents think this is a good idea.

With the already existing black market in Richmond, the lack of dispensaries will reward drug dealers by allowing them to stay in business. While many people will make the trips into any of the surrounding cities, lots will just continue using the black market as a much more convenient way of obtaining their product.

In addition, the lack of dispensaries will make it easier for youth to get their hands on cannabis. Dispensaries check ID, drug dealers don’t. It doesn’t get any more simple. Yet people don’t seem to understand.
