Dear Editor,
There is a double standard in place in Richmond when it comes to lawn watering.
If you own an unoccupied or sometimes occupied mega house, it is apparently fine with the city if you leave your in-ground sprinklers on for any lengths of time, at any time of the day, and on any or all days of the week.
But, if you own and live in an older house you are expected to (and most of us do) adhere to the sprinkling bylaws that confine usage to four hours over two mornings a week or not at all during extreme water-shortage periods.
Money gets you green lawns, while average law-abiding citizens get to watch their lawns go brown.
One example of many double standards that exist in the City of Richmond.
