Letter: Don't drink and drive in Richmond...or anywhere

Dear Editor,

We have seen changes to the powers of police during impaired driving investigations and new, more robust sanctions for drunk driving.

The police don’t scare me one bit — I will provide a breath sample anytime they want.

I am afraid of hurting someone. When one drives a car, one assumes a great responsibility to protect other users of the roads. I could not live knowing that I had hurt or killed someone because I got drunk and was so stupid that I decided to drive.

That is the same reason I do not speed and I leave my phone alone in the car.

Driving is a dangerous task. Please be alert, be aware, be sober and be safe.
