Letter: Certain Richmond slates are past their sell-by dates

The Richmond News takes a look at what names have been been announced so far for October's municipal election.

Dear Editor,

Just received the Oct. 4 edition of your paper and had a real chuckle.

Five of our present council members, namely Richmond First’s Derek Dang, Bill McNulty and Linda McPhail and Richmond Community Coalition’s Chak Au and Ken Johnson placed a number of joint advertisements with the subject heading ‘Let’s talk about the Real Issues’.

Two of their topics were affordable housing and transportation.

My first impression was, really, this has to be a joke, right? Both of these topics have been major issues for 10 years plus, and our councillors want to make them discussions points now! My only thought after reading such nonsense is “please Richmond voters, let’s clean house this year.” These five have had their chance. They are well past their sell-by date, and it’s now time to replace.
