Richmond’s Brighouse Fire Hall hosted Christmas Fund Drive-Thru

The Richmond Brighouse Fire Hall was turned into a heartwarming place with Santa and Christmas music as the hall hosted its 9th Annual Richmond Christmas Fund Drive-Thru earlier this week.

The Richmond Brighouse Fire Hall was turned into a heartwarming place with Santa and Christmas music as the hall hosted its 9th Annual Richmond Christmas Fund Drive-Thru earlier this week.

Throughout the morning, people drove up to the hall to drop off bags of unwrapped gifts. At peak times, cars had to wait in line while volunteers helped donors unload their gifts and brought them free coffee and pastries in return.

The event supports the Richmond Christmas Fund, sponsored by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), which assists low-income families during the holiday season.

Ed Gavsie, president and CEO of RCRG, said this is the first time the event has been held at the fire hall. Considering the location is at the center of Richmond, he said there was an opportunity to bring the event to an even bigger audience.

The Richmond RCMP also stopped by to show their support with toys and presents stuffed to the brim of their van, said Gavsie, adding he also appreciate the public’s support.

“It’s a community-based event, we can give out as many gifts cards and toys as the community supports us,” said Gavsie.
