Richmond police are investigating an alleged hit and run after a man in his mid-70s was believed to be struck by a driver Wednesday.

Around 8 a.m., Richmond Mounties were called to the area around Gilbert and Blundell roads following reports that a pedestrian was hit.

The driver did not appear to help the pedestrian and the vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His wife who was with him at the time was not injured, however.

Police are now asking for information from the public and believe a dark-coloured sedan, or similar vehicle, may have been involved.

Anyone with information should contact Const. Z. Sharoom at 604-278-1212 and quote file# 2019-16570. Drivers who may have been in the area at the time are asked to review dash cam footage.
