Richmond Mounties have arrested a pair of suspects in relation to an alleged break and enter on Granville Avenue, near Garden City Park.

Last Friday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., an individual going for a walk noticed an alarm was sounding in a nearby home. Then, the individual says they saw two suspects jump a fence and flee.

RCMP officers responded and found “fresh damage” on a door where the house alarm was going off.

“A quick thinking Good Samaritan from our community was able to provide officers with excellent information. This allowed our officers to quickly track down these break and enter suspects,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang in a press release.

The two suspects were found north of Garden City Park and were arrested. Both the Richmond males, one aged 23, the other 42, are known to police.

“Our commitment and resolve towards making our community safer has seen dramatically increased activity from our entire detachment. From patrol, to our specialized units, to our crime analysts, volunteers, and Block Watch personnel. Everyone has stepped up,” said Hwang.

“We are also seeing more and more suspicious activity being reported from the community. This is not only greatly appreciated, but it makes us proud that the community is engaged and actively participating. Many hands make light work.”

The RCMP’s investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
