Richmond resident and e-sports gamer Peter Nguyen and his teammates are on their way to China in the spring, after winning a qualifying round of a world gaming championship.

This past weekend, Canadian players battled it out at EGLX (Enthusiastic Gaming Live Expo) in Toronto and competed in one of the country’s largest and only Olympic-style e-sports tournaments – WESG.

Nguyen and his teammates won the qualifying spot, $15,000 and the opportunity to represent Canada at the WESG Grand Finals in China in March 2019, for a chance to win their piece of the $2.5 million prize pool.
