Family struck while crossing the road near Richmond Centre

An SUV hit a mother crossing No. 3 Road with her two children in Richmond Saturday, leaving one of the children with serious injuries. The collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m. just south of Brighouse Station, near No. 3 and Cook roads.

An SUV hit a mother crossing No. 3 Road with her two children in Richmond Saturday, leaving one of the children with serious injuries.

The collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m. just south of Brighouse Station, near No. 3 and Cook roads. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and traffic was snarled in Richmond’s City Centre that morning.

Cpl. Dennis Hwang with the Richmond RCMP said the 29-year-old mother and her three-month-old baby she was pushing in a stroller received minor injuries. Her four-year old child was seriously hurt, although the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The family is from Vancouver.

The driver, a 62-year-old from Richmond, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
