While Richmondites may be enjoying a sunny day today, snow and rain are expected to return this evening and yet another snowfall warning has been issued.

Later this evening, flurries or showers are expected overnight, according to Environment Canada. On Friday, snowfall is expected to intensify in the morning and accumulate five to 10 centimetres by the evening throughout Metro Vancouver.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” says Environment Canada’s warning. “Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”

By Sunday, the sun is expected to return, with temperatures reaching as high as 5 C.

Currently, Richmond is on track to have the coldest February in 30 years.

The average temperature for February 2019 through to the 18th has been -0.5, with 31.2 cm of snow, according to one local weather enthusiast.

Richmond hasn't had a February that cold since 1989 when the average temperature was -1.4 through the 18th, with 21.4 cm of snow.

If the chill continues, Richmond may actually break the 1989 average for the whole month because back then, it actually warmed up in the last couple of weeks.
