The ticketing and towing by police of a sports car in Richmond is drawing favourable attention on social media.
Richmond RCMP tweeted their pulling over of an Audi R8 on Steveston Highway on Monday, with the officer indicating that the driver was showing “wanton disregard for safety of the community around him. Our streets are not your playground.”
Asa well as having the car impounded, the driver was ticketed for excessive speeding and two additional infractions.
The officer signed off with “#Bingo.”
Tweets of support included:
Excellent! More of this please! With the nicer weather, been hearing lots of cars roaring up and down 1 Road lately.

...perhaps the driver should also be impounded, and jailed to get his attention...

Thank you so much for making #RoadSafety important and for sharing it on social media so people can SEE it in action #VisionZeroBC #SpeedKills
