Traffic delays expected near YVR due to Black Friday: Richmond Mounties

Richmond RCMP and Vancouver International Airport are warning of higher traffic on Sea Island due to Black Friday sales.

Richmond RCMP is advising travellers headed to Vancouver International Airport to give themselves extra time to catch their flights this weekend, as Black Friday sales are expected to caused traffic delays in the area.

Mounties said they are anticipating “higher than normal” traffic volumes on Sea Island due to the Black Friday sales event at McArthurGlen outlet mall.

The airport also said it is anticipating “heavy congestion” and delays on the road to and from the airport and is advising those headed to YVR or Sea Island to take the Canada Line.

Additional RCMP officers will be on the roadways around the mall and airport to help with traffic flow, and people are asked to follow the directions of officers and flag persons.

According to Richmond RCMP, the following dates and times are when higher traffic is expected:

  • Friday, Nov. 26: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 27: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 28: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
