Baseball writer Ryan Beil kicks things off at The Nat on Tuesday, May 17 when the Canadians played and beat the Tri-City Dust Devils

We're thrilled to announce that we've brought Vancouver's own Ryan Beil on board to write about the Vancouver Canadians baseball club.

You may know him as the host of the new CBC Podcast Let's Make A Sci-Fi, from his many roles in film, as "Ryan the trainee" from A&W commercials, or as one of the talented improv performers who put on the weekly show The Sunday Service at The Fox Cabaret.

People who attend Canadians games at Nat Bailey know him as one of the biggest C's fans in the city who has had season's tickets behind home plate for years.

Others may know him as a Chicago Cubs superfan, a fault that some of us here are hoping to eventually beat out of him, but which we forgive him for.

Beil will be writing a weekly column that will appear online and in our newspaper, and I can promise you that you'll be entertained, you'll learn about the sport of baseball and our local team, and by the end of it you just may end up being a huge fan, just like he is.
