Richmond received several inches of snow

The overnight snow has forced the closure of several schools across Richmond on Thursday (Jan. 6).

All public schools are closed for the day, according to Richmond School District.

While there’s no instruction taking place for K-12 students across the district this week — as the province pushed the start date back to Jan. 10 — schools have been open this week to provide supervision for students of essential workers, particularly health care workers.

Meanwhile, Kwantlen Polytechnic University announced all of its campuses would be closed Thursday.

KPU said all in-person classes and on-campus services are closed, however, online classes will continue as scheduled.

All BCIT campuses are also closed and all in-person classes and exams are cancelled. This includes full and part-time classes.

However, online classes will continue as scheduled.

Trinity Western University has also cancelled in-person morning classes at its Richmond and Langley campuses. However, the campuses remain open.

Online classes will continue as usual and an update will be provided by 10 a.m. about in-person afternoon classes.
