Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Richmond and the rest of Metro Vancouver for Wednesday and Thursday, saying temperatures could reach 29 to 35 degrees Celsius.

The City of Richmond posted the warning along with information about where to go to cool down including water fountains, indoor cooling places such as libraries, the museum and community centres.

Outdoor shelters and pop-up covered spaces to cool down in are at Dover Park, McLean Park, Paulik Park, Richmond Nature Park and Steveston Park.

Richmond's spray parks can be found in Steveston, King George and Burkeville parks and they are open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The city has not listed any misting stations.

The hottest time on Wednesday and Thursday is expected in the late afternoon and early evening, and cooler temperatures are expected on Friday.

Young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors are at higher risk, according to Environment Canada.

Some signs of heat illness are swelling, rash, cramps, fainting and if health conditions worsen.
