COVID-19 exposure alert for Prince George-bound Air Canada flight

A third 2021 flight involving Prince George's airport has been marked for COVID-19.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has added an Air Canada/Jazz flight from March 6 to its list of exposures today (March 17).

It says passengers in rows three through nine on flight 8209 with service from Vancouver to YXS may have come into contact with someone who recently tested positive for the virus.

Since March 27, 2020, passengers seated near a case of COVID-19 that was recognized after arrival are no longer being directly notified of their potential exposure, but are asked to check online and monitor their symptoms.

The following flights involving Prince George in 2021 have been flagged for COVID-19 exposure: 

  • Jan. 1 = WestJet flight 3282 from Prince George to Vancouver - rows three to nine
  • Feb. 28 = WestJet flight 3287 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows 14 to 20
  • March 6 = Air Canada/Jazz flight 8209 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows three to nine

As of this publication (March 9), Northern Health has recorded 5,307 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March 14, 2020, which has included 111 virus-linked deaths.

There are currently 13 people admitted into critical care or ICU among 27 total hospitalizations, 304 active cases and 4,886 recoveries.
