A home service business has been fined for an unsafe Richmond worksite last month.

Vancouver-based SOS Guttervac Home Services was fined $2,500 for the lack of fall protection for its workers as they were on the roof.

According to WorkSafeBC, the firm's workers were power washing on a 6:12 sloped roof of a Richmond restaurant.

No protection was in place and it exposed the worker to a risk of falling from about 5.5-meters (18-feet) high.

"The firm failed to ensure fall protection was used, a repeated and high-risk violation," reads WorkSafeBC's website.
