Rumba Calzada is first up in the Shadbolt Centre's Live Streaming at the 'Bolt concert series in 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic can’t stop the music.

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is continuing its Live Streaming at the ’Bolt concert series in 2021, with a lineup featuring award-winning musicians.

The concert series, which runs every Thursday from Jan. 28 to April 1, gives audiences the chance to enjoy performances livestreamed from the Shadbolt’s Studio Theatre – while audiences watch from the comfort of their own homes.

The new year kicks off with a free performance by Vancouver’s Rumba Calzada. The Juno-nominated band, led by composer and percussionist Raphael Geronimo, is renowned for its Caribbean fusion music, “with a powerful and joyful sound that is guaranteed to bring the house down every time,” as a press release notes.

The following week, on Feb. 4, award-winning soul, jazz and R&B artist Krystle Dos Santos will take to the stage.

Tickets for livestreaming performances are $10. Depending on the evolution of public health restrictions, a limited number of tickets may also be made available to attend in person.

Future performers include Old Soul Rebel on Feb. 11, the Sojourners on Feb. 18, Buckman Coe on Feb. 25 and Harry Manx on March 5.

All performances happen Thursdays at 8 p.m., and full details and tickets can be found at the Shadbolt Centre’s website.
