It’s the most wonderful time of year and there are countless festive activities to enjoy in the Lower Mainland.

With that being said, it can be a great deal of fun to get out of town for a week – especially when your getaway includes a flock of painfully adorable reindeer!

And that’s exactly what you’ll find in the adorable town of Leavenworth, just south of Vancouver in Washington. The picturesque village looks exactly like a German town. With alpine rooftops, adorable shuttered windows, latticework features, horse-drawn carriages, beer gardens, and more, the destination transports you into Bavaria.

What’s more, this charming escape has its own reindeer farm. The farm has a plethora of the pint-sized cuties to feast your eyes on, as well as a place to snap photos with jolly ol’ Saint Nick. Children can even enjoy swinging on reindeer-shaped swings, or take a tour with the cuddly creatures (they eat right out of your hand).

In addition, the farm is home to a beautiful vintage tractor, majestic horses, a flock of friendly chickens, and much more. As such, the farm turns into a magical winter wonderland, and is the perfect place to spend time with loved ones.

Leavenworth for the Holidays

During the holidays the village is decorated with twinkling lights and comes alive with the festive spirit. They even have a Nutcracker Museum that has thousands of nutcrackers. What’s more, it is located in the Cascade Mountains and is close to a number of ski resorts. There are also a number of wineries nearby, so it is ideal for wine tours.

It takes roughly four hours to reach from Vancouver, but travel times will depend on border traffic.
