River Rock casino offers cheap stays for firefighters

The hotel is also donating some of the proceeds to the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund.

The River Rock Casino Resort for is offering firefighters a cheap rate for weekday stays in October and November to thank them for their work battling summer wildfires.

All firefighters can stay at the hotel for $50 a night between Sunday and Thursday, with weekends being more expensive. They just need to present valid identification and an their International Association of Fire Fighters membership, or a recent pay stub.

 “We would like to thank the brave men and women who fought the forest fires in British Columbia this summer during a record wildfire season,” said Michael Kim, the River Rock Casino Resort’s general manager.

He hopes the deal can help first responders relax and unwind.

Half of the proceeds from firefighters’ bookings will also go to the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund, up to a maximum of $5,000.
