Rainfall warning: Vancouver forecast calls for flooding, seven days of rain

While the final days of December were dry, the Metro Vancouver weather forecast calls for rain over the following week.

What’s more, the forecast for Wednesday, Jan. 2 includes a rainfall warning. The rain is expected to begin in the morning with a high of four degrees. Heavy rainfall amounts of 40 to 50 mm are expected with up to 60 mm near the mountains. The forecast also calls for wind near the water.

In addition, localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas; heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The rainfall will begin to taper off Thursday, Jan. 3 to showers.

Last month, Dec. 11 was the wettest Dec. 11 on record since weather records began at Vancouver International Airport in 1937.

Dec. 13 also set a record for the wettest Dec. 13 on record.
