The Richmond Public Library is marking a province-wide initiative to promote family literacy this week with several games and activities.

“When we teach our children to read and write we help unlock a world of endless opportunities for them to learn, grow and succeed,” Education Minister Rob Fleming said in a release.

Stephanie Vokey, spokesperson for RPL, said each branch will have self-led literacy games for children and families to do together. At the Brighouse branch, there’s a reading corner set up just for families.

RPL is also sharing tips all week on its Facebook page to help make reading an enjoyable family activity.

Family Literacy Week runs Jan. 20 to 27 across B.C.
