Dozens of Richmond Chinese restaurants nominated for awards

Dozens of Richmond’s Chinese restaurants have been nominated for honours in the 11th annual Chinese Restaurant Awards.

These restaurants are up against others from across the Lower Mainland to take home prizes in 23 categories.

New this year are feature dish categories for the restaurant that can best prepare Cantonese-style crispy chicken, Sichuan-style spicy oil wontons and tofu pudding. The awards have also added a new category for best dessert restaurant and VanPeople’s Most Voted restaurant.

“In recent years, Vancouver has attracted an expanding number of Chinese and Taiwanese dessert shops, including those with established fame in Asia,” reads a news release from the Chinese Restaurant Awards.

Take a look at some of the Richmond eateries up for awards here, and vote for your favourites until Feb. 24. Winners will be announced Feb. 25.
