What: Flower Market

Where: Yaohan Centre, 3700 No. 3 Rd

A visit to the Yaohan Centre Flower Market during this time of the year is a great way to get into the spirit of Chinese New Year. The market is the perfect place to soak up in the joy of the festivities and pick up a few items to decorate the house.

What: Bodhi Meditation Chinese New Year Market Place

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Bodhi Meditation Vancouver, 7740 Alderbridge Way

Celebrate the year of the Golden Pig with two fun-filled days at Bodhi Meditation's Chinese New Year Market Place including a time-travelling photography studio, traditional tea house, children’s courtyard, dharma gift shop, oracle readings, multicultural performances and international veggie food hutongs that will leave your taste buds satisfied and your bellies full! Admission is free.

What: Aberdeen Centre Chinese New Year Flower & Gift Fair

When:11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

The hallways of Aberdeen Centre will be transformed into our Chinese New Year Flower & Gift Fair, featuring vendors selling including gifts, decorations, fresh flowers, crafts, food, home goods and more. Your one-stop-shop for all Chinese New Year essentials.

Feb. 3

When: 2 p.m.onward

Where: Richmond-Brighouse Station

A street celebration meant to foster bonds between Chinese and other Canadians. There will be performances, free Chinese food, including dumplings, fried rice, spring rolls and doughnuts, and activities like face-painting for children.

Feb. 4

What:Surprise visit by the Chinese God of Fortune at Aberdeen Centre

When: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Where: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

The Chinese God of Fortune will be on hand to send his blessings of luck to visitors. Free photo opportunity for all.

 

What: Live Countdown Shows to Chinese New Year of the Pig 2019 at Aberdeen Centre

When: 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Where: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

There will be two live variety stage shows presented by Fairchild Radio and Television featuring cultural performances by winners of the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant, music, dance, fortune telling, giveaways and more. There will also be a live broadcasted countdown to the Chinese New Year of the Pig. 

 

What:Bodhi Meditation New Year’s Eve Blessing Ceremony

When: 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Where: Bodhi Meditation Vancouver, 7740 Alderbridge Way

On New Year's Eve, ring in the New Year and offer the first candle and incense to Buddha and pray for good luck and fortune in the year to come. Pray for family, friends and loved ones wishing them health, happiness and auspiciousness in the year of the Golden Pig. Have any questions going into the New Year? What: Aberdeen Centre’s Golden Dragon & Lion Dance

When: 11 a.m. (outdoor courtyard), 12 p.m. (mall)

Where: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

Watch the golden dragon and eight lions come alive after a traditional eye-dotting ceremony and a live firecracker display! After the outdoor spectacle, the lions will travel to all three levels of the mall visiting stores to perform the pick-the-green ceremonies. 

 

What:Yaohan Centre Chinese New Year Celebration

When: 12 to 1 p.m.

Where: Yaohan Centre, 3700 No. 3 Rd

Come and enjoy Yaohan Centre's Chinese New Year Celebration including dragon and lion dances, firecracker, green picking at plateau sphere jong and visits from the God of Fortune!

 

Feb. 9

 

What: Chinese New Year at Lansdowne Centre

When: 12:30 to 5 p.m.

Where: Lansdowne Centre, 5300 No 3 Rd

Starting with an opening ceremony, including a Lion Dance, the festivities will include a great line up of live entertainment, family activities and community booths.

 

What: Chinese New Year Cultural Showcase at Aberdeen Centre

When: 1 to 4 p.m.

Where: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

Colourful dance shows and Chinese Orchestra performance featuring hundreds of spectacular talents from the Vancouver Academy of Dance, Colors of Dance Academy, B.C. Chinese Music Association, and more.

 

Feb. 10

What: Ring in the Year of the Pig with CF Richmond Centre

When: 11 a.m.

Where: Richmond Centre, 6551 No 3 Rd

Join in on the festivities with a traditional Lion Dance that includes a musical performance, and meet the God of Fortune who will be gifting lucky red pockets filled with chocolatecoins.

When: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Yaohan Centre, 3700 No 3 Rd

Gather your family and friends and come up to the second floor of Yaohan Centre to enjoy a variety of entertainment at the Chinese New Year Stage Show!
