The federal election in the riding of Steveston-Richmond East is shaping up to be a déjà vu of the 2015 election with the same Liberal and Conservative candidates – Joe Peschisolido is running for re-election while Conservative Kenny Chiu is challenging him. 

Peschisolido won the riding for the Liberals in 2015 with 19,486 of 43,225 votes (45.08%) while Chiu finished second with 16,630 (38.47%) votes.

A distant third was Scott Stewart of the New Democratic Party with 5,248 (12.14%) votes.

The Green candidate, Laura-Leah Shaw got 1,587 votes (3.67 per cent) and Libertarian Matthew Swanston got 274 votes.

In this election, Jaeden Dela Torre is running for the NDP and Nicole Iaci for the Greens.
