Half-caff coffee

Half caff coffee

If that afternoon cup of coffee is a much-needed pick-me-up and a little much caffeine for late in the day, a half-caff coffee might strike the right balance. There's a growing list of available brands at grocery stores and on Amazon.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone sensitive to the effects of caffeine too close to bedtime.

Why we're endorsing it: Provides a bit of an energy buzz without the jitteriness of too much coffee.

Where it could use improvements: There's still a lack of variety with pods, which can affect pricing.

Size/weight/dimensions: Caffeine in mg will be on the package.

Assorted box of greeting cards

Card box

As COVID restrictions ease and social gatherings (like birthday parties, baby showers, weddings and general merriment) are ramping back up, it's great to keep a set of greeting cards on hand for all of the occasions. It saves a last-minute trip to the store (100 times over) and comes in an organized box with tabs. $33 at Amazon.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone who finds themselves scrambling for a card before an event.

Why we're endorsing it: It simplifies gift giving.

Where it could use improvements:  All the cards have a similar pastel motif.

Goop Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator

goop exfoliator

A search for Goop's new Cloudberry Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser led to a moment of disappointment as it is sold out at Sephora, so we instead opted for the Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator. This weekly treatment, which Gwyneth Paltrow calls a "facial in a jar," is a deep chemical and physical exfoliation. Apply to a damp face and massage for a few minutes, then leave for another few minutes for extra effect. While we wait for the Cloudberry Jelly on order directly from Goop (available here), we're happy to have found our new go-to exfoliator/mask. $58 at Sephora (for 15mL).

Who it's ideal for: Anyone who wants a face mask that is exfoliating but won't strip skin.

Why we're endorsing it: Transparent ingredient list, double exfoliation with minerals and glycolic acid.

Where it could use improvements: High price point. Delicate skin may find it too abrasive.

Size/weight/dimensions: $58/15mL or $165/50 mL.

Saline spray for piercings

Saline spray

Whether it's the first ear hole or the fourth, piercings need to be cared for to avoid infection. Most body piercers will recommend a saline spray for daily use (particularly in the first two months) to sterilize and soothe the new piercing. The spray is more convenient than using a cotton pad and is the most hands-off method (which is good, as touching is a no-no). $11 at Amazon.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone with a new piercing.

Why we're endorsing it: Safety, convenience.

Where it could use improvements: Unclear if this canister can go in a residential recycling bin.

Size/weight/dimensions: 90 mL.

White platform Doc Martens

White doc marten

Doc Martens boots don't go in and out of style – they are a staple year after year, and the more worn, the better. These white platform Doc Martens are all over Instagram and a stand-out look for spring with jeans and dresses (which is very 90s). $280 at Little Burgundy.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone who needs a new pair of boots that mix nostalgia and newness.

Why we're endorsing it: Style and availability (these are likely to sell out).

Where it could use improvements: The platform has a higher price point than the standard boot.

Size/weight/dimensions: Limited sizes available.

Aveeno Foot Repair Mask

Aveeno mask

If feet feel a little dry and worn out, these Aveeno booties are like a mini spa treatment. Slip them on for 10 minutes (it will feel weird at first as the inside is lined with lotion) and let the shea butter do its work. Afterwards, don't rinse off and instead rub any excess lotion into feet and calves. Unlike other hardcore foot masks, this one doesn't cause heels to shed. $4 at Amazon.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone with dry feet (so, practically everyone).

Why we're endorsing it: Price, effectiveness.

Where it could use improvements: One set of booties per pack.

Size/weight/dimensions: These fit most size feet.

Rope basket with handles

Rope basket

This two-tone rope basket is great for storing everything from pet toys to throw blankets. The handles make it easy to move between rooms, and it can be stored flat if need be. It's sturdy, holds its shape and fits in with almost any kind of décor. $34.99 at Amazon.

Who it's ideal for: Anyone who needs a modern storage basket.

Why we're endorsing it: Price (on sale), aesthetic compatibility.

Where it could use improvements:  It is shipped flattened and needs to be shaped.

Size/weight/dimensions: ‎31.6 x 24.2 x 16.8 cm.
