Where they did best:

In the old Richmond East riding, in 2013, Gian Sihota’s NDP did best in Voting Area 40, a single-family home neighbourhood in East Cambie four years ago.

In this neighbourhood, popular amongst Southeast Asians, the NDP fetched 71/139 cast ballots (of 358 eligible voters).

Liberal MLA Linda Reid garnered immense support in Voting Area 47, a large region home to commercial-scale farmers, many of them large donors to the Liberals. Here, Reid took 116/163 cast ballots (of 355 eligible voters).

Doug Perry and the Green Party had their best showing in Voting Area 91, southwest of No. 4 and Francis roads, and predominantly defined by the older multi-family complex Glenacres Village.

Here, the Greens took 22/159 cast ballots (of 373 eligible voters). Still, Reid defeated Sihota 78-49.

Note: In New Westminster’s Queensborough, which has an estimated population of 8,000, the NDP won 11/15 voting areas in 2013. In Queensborough, New Westminster NDP MLA Judy Darcy garnered 1,185 of 2,433 votes, or 48.7 per cent of the popular vote (across New Westminster she got 48.5 per cent).
