Kay Hale has lived in Richmond for more than 30 years. She grew up in Hong Kong in humble surroundings. Her father was a British military officer who served in the Second World War. Her husband is a retired mechanical engineer who served in the Korean War
Together, they have two daughters and four grandchildren.
Hale is multilingual. She speaks English, Cantonese, Hindi and Punjabi. Her 28-plus years of business experience includes international management consultancy in Hong Kong, U.K. and Canada.
She is now a licensed realtor in B.C.
Hale said she finds solace in volunteering and extending a helping hand to any cause. Supporting food banks throughout the year, Hale said it is a good way to bring communities together and build morale.
During growing season she grows a full vegetable garden in her own backyard and is an active member and vice president of the Richmond Garden Club.
Her favourite reading material is History of Earth from its Formation to the Present Day, and Astronomy in its Natural Science.
Besides supporting the local food bank, Hale enjoys spending time with little children and teaching them about the stars and planets beyond and to seeing their faces light up with wonder when pointing out the International Space Station passing overhead.
