Following a letter from the City of Delta, Kings Links By the Sea has decided to not re-open on Friday.

In a note on their website posted Thursday, Kings Links says: Subsequent to announcing our plans to re-open tomorrow, we received a letter from the Mayor of Delta urging us to keep our doors closed and make ‘the necessary steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19.’ After further consideration and discussion with the Mayor’s office, we have made the difficult decision to remain closed so that all can be open for business as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to seeing you all soon.”
According to the websites for the Links at Hampton Cove and Delta Golf Course, they both remain open, while Tsawwassen Spring remains closed as does Beach Grove Golf Course, the areas only private club.

On Wednesday Harvie wrote to the Premier’s office seeking more powers to enforcement the Provincial Health Officers’ orders around business closures and social distancing.

A few weeks ago when Delta was granted its local state of emergency, it had the power to shut down all golf courses and did so, but when the province lifted all local states of emergency and shifted to a province-wide state of emergency, Delta lost some of those direct, local enforcement powers.

Delta is not the only municipality where golf courses either have remained open or have tried to re-open in the past few days. Those include Langley and Pitt Meadows.
