Your Voice: How do you feel about the vandalism on the library’s rainbow steps?

To celebrate the kick off to Pride Week, students at the Richmond Media Lab painted the steps at the entrance in the colours of the rainbow last week.

However, someone had written on the steps, seemingly in chalk, passages from the bible, condemning homosexuality.

That’s certainly not right, I’m sorry to hear that. It’s not surprising, some people are upset about the whole thing… it’s retaliation, I guess. Anything that’s different, people are afraid of change and they’ll come along and do something not so nice.

They really shouldn’t do that, it’s unfair. We need to show that we care for and have respect for the LGBTQ community.

That’s really disrespectful and shocking. I feel like I’m saying what everyone is going to say. Maybe they should have security cameras so we could see who vandalized it.

Vandalism sucks, it’s a shame that they did that.
