On Sunday night, Richmondites who turned their eyes skyward saw the moon go from bright white to a burnt orange colour and back again during a total lunar eclipse.
It was an impressive and rare show, called a super blood wolf moon. It’s “super” because the moon was at its closest distance from earth, and “wolf” because it was the first full moon of the year. The “blood” part of its name refers to the red colour it turned while entering earth's shadow..
Photographers flocked to open areas away from light pollution for some awesome images around the Lower Mainland. But, as it turns out, Richmondites didn’t have to go very far to get some stunning pictures.
