Families can enjoy a wonderful night under the stars on Saturday.

Metro Vancouver plays host to its 12th annual Starry Nights at Deas Island Regional Park.

The event runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Participants are asked to meet near the rowing club.

Explore the park along lantern-lit paths. Discover fun facts about the creatures who make the park their home. Make a wish upon a star during this enchanted evening.

Organizers say participants should allow one hour to complete the walk. You are asked to bring a flashlight or lantern, dress appropriately for the weather and to bring bug spray. Also please leave your pets at home.

The path for the walk will also be lined and lit by lanterns.

The event is free and suitable for all ages.

“This is one of our most popular summer events for families,” said Metro Vancouver communications spokesperson Sarah Lusk. “Watch out above for owls and other creatures, check out the drumming circle and other activities. It’s a fun event for everyone.”
