A fundraising shred-a-thon is being hosted at the Ironwood Canadian Tire in Richmond at the end of the month.

In aid of the Delta Gymnastics Society, which has many Richmond athletes on its books, the event is being held March 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the help of Canadian Tire and Shred-Wise.

“We recognize the need to safeguard people’s confidential information and these shred events are not only perfect for safe disposal but provide a great opportunity for seasonal decluttering of your home or commercial office, storage room or personal files,” said Melissa Woodward, a parent organizer of the event.

Businesses and individuals are welcome to bring their bags and boxes of documents to the Ironwood Canadian Tire parking lot where a shredding truck will be stationed.

Shredding of transaction records, credit applications, insurance forms, cheques, financial statements, mortgage or other home information, payroll and tax returns is highly recommended.

“We are extremely grateful that Shred-Wise is sponsoring this event that provides the community with this fantastic opportunity to help keep their identity safe,” added Woodward.

“Donations received for this service from the local businesses and residents will directly benefit hard working athletes.”
