A lecture on campus bullying and related legal issues will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18 2-4 p.m. at Richmond Public Library.
This is part of the “Caring for Youth Growth Lecture Series” held by non-profit Canada Youth Union Foundation.
Emmet Duncan, a Vancouver criminal defence lawyer, will talk about topics such as how to identify campus bullying and prevent children from it, how to solve bullying problems using legal means and how to avoid cyberbullying.
The lecture is free and will be given in English with Chinese translation.
“We have heard of incidents of campus bullying in Canada and other countries. Some of them even led to serious consequences,” said Aaron Han, founder and president of Canada Youth Union Foundation.
“By having this lecture and talking about campus bullying, we hope to teach students how to stay away from campus violence, better control their anger and use legal means to solve problems they might face at school or in life.”
The foundation was launched more than a year ago, originally to address the issue of mental health problems among international students in Canada.
It is now providing free consultation and assistance to all youths in Canada and hosts a monthly lecture at Richmond Public Library on various topics including cybersecurity, scam prevention, job searching and mental health.
