Oxfam hosting Richmond fundraising walk for famine-struck Africans

The Richmond branch of Oxfam is hosting a fundraising walkathon on Saturday at Garry Point Park to raise funds for people affected by the famine in Africa.

The Richmond branch of Oxfam is hosting a fundraising walkathon on Saturday at Garry Point Park to raise funds for people affected by the famine in Africa.

According to Oxfam, the famine continues to affect people living in South Sudan, Nigeria, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Kenya and Yemen.

Oxfam UK stated that 33,000 people have gone hungry each day with women hit the hardest.

The Richmond Oxfam Committee is hosting the walkathon on Saturday, July 27, starting at 2 p.m., to fundraise for the Hunger and Famine Fund.
