Dust off your red and white shirts, and join the Richmond Olympic Park Run gang for their special Canada Day 5K run.

Starting at 9 a.m. (with an 8:45 a.m. registration), the free, volunteer-run event meanders along the middle arm dyke trail, with the starting point close to the UBC Boathouse.

The Richmond park run – which mirrors thousands of similar free, weekly runs worldwide – goes every Saturday at 9 a.m. from the same location with timed runs for those wo want it, along with joggers, dog walkers and parents and pushchairs.

However, the organizers put on special runs throughout the year and are encouraging participants to don anything and everything red and white for Monday’s event.

And there’s a promise of some Canada Day cake waiting for those taking part.

If you've not been before, register for your free park run barcode at https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. Print it out and bring it along to receive a time for your run.
