How to celebrate ‘Giving Tuesday’ in Richmond

With seasonal sales, hectic malls and long gift lists, it may feel as though it’s now just the season of shopping; however, one global movement is also trying to ignite the “season of giving” with Giving Tuesday.

With seasonal sales, hectic malls and long gift lists, it may feel as though it’s now just the season of shopping; however, one global movement is also trying to ignite the “season of giving” with Giving Tuesday.

Falling the Tuesday after Black Friday, Giving Tuesday is a day when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In Richmond, the River Rock Casino is highlighting the work of the Richmond Christmas Fund.

On Tuesday morning, visit the River Rock Casino between 7 and 10 a.m. for a festive morning. Cash donations will be accepted as well as unwrapped toys for families in need. In return, enjoy a breakfast pastry, Starbucks coffee and holiday music performed by the Steveston-London jazz band.

All proceeds will go to the Richmond Christmas Fund, and initiative run by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives that distributes grocery vouchers to individuals and families in need. Children 12 and under also receive toys, books, and sports equipment, while teenagers are given gift cards.

Can’t make it down tomorrow morning? Join in RCRG's social media campaign in partnership with Benevity to raise funds for the Richmond charity.

Or, visit the Giving Tuesday website’s donation platform and search for a favourite charity in Richmond and beyond to make a donation.
