The City of Richmond is looking for public input on a new playground at Aberdeen Park, near Aberdeen Centre.

The park opened in July and its design was inspired by a “Zen garden” motif and aims to provide immersive spaces for quiet contemplation and passive recreation.

Now, the city is working on its second phase for the park which will include a playground, stage canopy, public washroom and Zhengzhou exchange garden.

While this second phase is expected to be completed in late 2019, public feedback is being collected for the playground’s design through an open house inside Aberdeen Centre on Saturday, Nov. 17. Visitors can view a preliminary playground plan, speak to staff and landscape architects and complete a survey.

For those unable to attend the open house, an online version of the survey will be available online from Nov. 16 to Dec. 2 through www.LetsTalkRichmond.ca.

Construction on the playground is expected to begin in the spring.
