The Independent Investigations Office has been called to Tsawwassen to investigate an incident on Saturday.

The IIO, B.C.’s police watchdog agency, said more details would be released later in the day.

Delta police spokesperson Cris Leykauf also said they would be releasing information on the incident when contacted by the Optimist for comment.

An area resident who alerted the Optimist to the heavy police presence in the Tsatsu Shores area on Saturday, said neighbours reported hearing lots of screaming and what appeared to be gun shots, although DPD or the IIO have not confirmed any of that.

This is a developing story and the Optimist will provide more details as they become available.
