Police found drugs hidden inside a water bottle, lint roller and hairbrush during a Valentine’s Day bust in Burnaby last week.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on February 14, officers with Burnaby RCMP’s drug section were conducting proactive enforcement, according to a police press release, when they spotted a vehicle they believed was involved in drug trafficking.

Two women, aged 26 and 38, were arrested.

A search of the suspect vehicle revealed drugs and cash stashed in several hidden compartments and objects, police said.

Burnaby RCMP has been seeing more dealers using household items to hide drugs, according to Cpl. Mike Kalanj, but the drug section is on to them, he said.

“That’s what they’re actually looking for now,” he told the NOW.

Included in last Friday’s seizure were fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, counterfeit pills of unknown substances and approximately $1,500 in cash, according to police.

The cash will be forfeited along with the vehicle used to transport the drugs, according to police, and the women now face charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

“Our investigators used their wealth of experience and local knowledge to successfully locate the suspects and several hidden compartments,” Kalanj said. “This is another example of top quality police work taking harmful drugs off the streets of Burnaby.”
