Richmond Maritime Festival is an annual summer event.

The City of Richmond is once again asking artists and graphic designers to submit ideas for the Maritime Festival’s promotional poster.

Held every summer at the Britannia Shipyards, the festival features music and dance performances that celebrate Steveston’s waterfront heritage. According to the city, it draws about 10,000 attendees.

The winning design for the promotional poster will be featured in print and online advertisements across Metro Vancouver, in brochures, in transit shelter advertising and in festival site décor.  The artist will also receive a $500 honourarium.

It should convey Steveston’s maritime and wooden boat heritage, according to the city.

The deadline for submitting poster designs is Friday, March 29. They can be sent to to festivals@richmond.ca, and artists can also include up to five portfolio pieces.

The winning artist will be announced in April and the art will be revealed in early June. This year, the festival runs Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.
