Flash fiction, screenwriting and sensory writing are the subjects of workshops planned by Richmond’s new writer-in-residence.
Poet and author Cynthia Sharp has been chosen as the city’s 2019 Writer-in-Residence, and, in addition to these workshops, she will be holding other events and conversations about the craft of writing.
An informal meet-and-greet will kick off the eighth year of the program on Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Minoru Centre for Active Living, 7191 Granville Ave.
This will be an opportunity for the community to meet Sharp and learn about the programming she is offering.
Sharp will also be at Richmond Public Library’s Brighouse Branch every Sunday afternoon over the two months for drop-in conversations with interested readers and writers.
This year’s residency will culminate in a final celebration on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Richmond Cultural Centre Performance Hall, 7700 Minoru Gate.
